Warts
Warts are benign skin growths caused by an infection with human papilloma viruses (HPV). They often occur on the hands, feet, face or genital area and are particularly common in children and adolescents.
Causes of warts
The main cause of warts is human papillomavirus (HPV), which is transmitted through direct skin contact or via contaminated surfaces. The viruses penetrate the skin through small cracks or injuries and lead to increased cell proliferation, which manifests itself as a wart. Factors that increase the risk of warts are a weakened immune system, increased sweating, diabetes and skin injuries.
Types of warts
There are different types of warts, including
– Common warts: Common on hands and fingers, rough and scaly.
– Plantar warts: Grow inwards on the soles of the feet and can be painful.
– Flat warts: Small, smooth warts, often on the face or hands.
– Genital warts: In the genital area, sexually transmitted.
Treatment of warts
Warts often disappear by themselves, but there are various treatment methods to remove or reduce them:
– Salicylic acid: this is applied regularly to the wart to loosen the keratinised skin.
– Cryotherapy (icing): Liquid nitrogen is applied to the wart to destroy the infected cells.
– Home remedies: These include the application of tea tree oil, garlic or celandine juice. However, the effectiveness of these methods is controversial.
– Surgical removal: In stubborn cases, surgical removal may be necessary.
Prevention of warts
A number of hygiene measures should be observed to prevent warts:
– Avoid direct contact with other people’s warts.
– Wear slippers in public showers and swimming pools.
– Do not share personal items such as towels or nail files.
The chip is intended to help prevent warts, strengthen the immune system and alleviate the causes.
